Ever wondered how people are adding in their own custom Facebook tabs into their fan or business pages? It's not difficult to do and here we'll show you how to create your own custom Facebook tab. In future blog posts we'll demonstrate how you can use FBML or HTML to populate your new custom tab page. There are a range of methods of adding a custom tab, this is one of them.
Firstly, you'll need to find an application on Facebook called Static FBML, do a search in the search bar for it and it should appear. If you can't find it then click the link below and we'll take you straight to it (opens in a new window). There's nothing to download to your PC, you just need to click the link that reads "Add to my page" and this will install the application for use on your page. When you click the Add to my page link a new window opens and if you are the administrator of multiple pages choose the one you wish to install it on.

The next step is to configure the application on your Facebook page. To do this you need to go to the main page of your Facebook page and click the link that says 'Edit page'. This will take you to your configuration screen for your page. Scroll down and find the Static FBML application. Next click on the Edit link to start editing the application settings.

Once you've found the application and clicked on edit, you're ready to start adding in some custom content to your new tab.
In the Box title input box you put your new tab name, as you can see from the example below it reads 'uPrint Offers' - you can put anything you like in here for your tab.
In the FBML box is where you can put your own content. As you can see from the example below we've used plain 'ol HTML to put up a special offers graphic, however there is a whole lot more that can be added in here using the Facebook Markup Language.
This blog post is merely to show you how to add an extra tab, we'll cover off how to write custom Facebook content using FBML in another blog post.

If you've followed the above correctly, you'll now have a new Facebook tab appear on your page. Unfortunately we can't cover off how to populate it with HTML and FBML, but if you need help to setup some crazy custom content then call Steve on 07849 020558 or email .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address) for help.
